Belly has always visited the lake house. It was simply a summer tradition where her, her brother and her mother would go and spend some quality time with the lovely Suzanna - her mother’s best friend -and her sons, who just happened to be around Belly’s age, and were very very cute.
Belly’s always been the little sister, discounted, left out and unwanted. She wasn’t noticeable, and got used to it being that way. Yet, one summer, that all seems to change. The summer where she turns pretty, and is noticed more than ever before.
How will Belly balance the dynamic between her, Conrad and Jeremiah? Is it bad to hope Conrad notices her maybe more than he should?
I guess you’ll have to read more to find out.
For me, The Summer I Turned Pretty is one of those laidback, easy summer reads you pick up and read over the course of a few days by the pool. Well written, realistic and funny, The Summer I Turned Pretty is the perfect book for a relaxed, rainy summer day.
If this book piques your interest, I recommend looking into authors such as Katie Finn and Sarah Dessen for similar stories.
