A film adaptation of Maria Semple's New York Time's Best selling novel Where'd You Go Bernadette? doesn't come close to the heights of the book. Cate Blanchett plays the titular character. Cate Blanchett does a great job portraying Bernadette but it only makes the movie go from unwatchable to semi watchable. Kristen Wilg's portrayal of Bernadette's nemesis Audrey is however, eye rollingly cringey. The movie feels too comedic for what was such a dramatic novel. Fans of the book will be disappointed with this adaptation and will feel like it is missing something. The only positive thing about this movie is Cate Blanchett's extraordinarily realistic performance of an agoraphobic woman. This movie is not entertaining and is not worth the time of day to watch.
