Andy Weir, the author of the acclaimed book “The Martian” is back with another space adventure. This story follows the exploits of Jasmine (Jazz) Bashara, a citizen of the world’s first city on the moon -- Artemis. Jazz, a twenty-something, lives in poverty in a city renowned for being wealthy, and struggles to repay a debt long overdue. When presented with an opportunity to make cash through a questionable venture, she jumps at the chance and ends up in a mess bigger than she can imagine.
Andy Weir portrays a realistic vision of a futuristic city on the moon, its political climate and societal dynamics. Despite the realism and seriousness of the storyline, the book maintains a fun and playful approach throughout. Laced with Weir’s unique sense of humour, Artemis is a book for sci-fi enthusiasts or those who are intrigued by space.
