Emily's life can only be described in two ways. Before Sloane, she was introverted, shy, and much more interested in keeping a low profile than in going to parties or talking to others. Then Sloane walked into her life, breaking Emily out of her shell in the way only a best friend can.
Emily just didn't understand how it was as easy for Sloane to walk out of her life as it was to walk into it. When Sloane disappears right before the beginning of a summer they would never forget, all she leaves behind for Emily to find is a list of bizarre tasks that she has no intentions of completing. But Emily can't seem to silence the voice in the back of her mind: what if checking the things off this list will lead her to Sloane?
Sleep under the stars...seems easy enough. Share some secrets in the dark...why not? Go skinny dipping...wait, what?
Stepping out of her comfort zone is not easy for Emily, but to find Sloane, she'll do anything. With an entire summer ahead of her, why not try something new?
Since You've Been Gone is a quick, easy, and fun-filled read that sucks you in from the very first few pages. As always, Matson never fails to keep the reader entertained from start to finish with her vibrant characters, comedic moments, and elements of mystery. Full of summer, friendship, and the desire to go on an adventure, Since You've Been Gone does not disappoint.
I'd suggest looking into Jenna Evans Welch and Anna Brashares for authors with similar writing styles who are sure to make you laugh and smile as you're whisked away into their stories.
