Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

We are gonna ignore all of the comments I’ve said about Shatter Me because this book completely changed my perspective on this series. 3.5/5 stars.

The book starts off with Juliette being underground in Omega Point, where she shares a room with the twins Sonya and Sara, the healing twins. Juliette is somehow finally happy to be there but keeps on denying herself and feels as if she doesn’t belong. Still with Adam, she starts to feel something unusual between her and Adam and decides to ask Kenji and the research development to find out what the problem is. The result was such a plot twist. This book kind of reminded me of Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard but honestly even better.

This book was such a great step up from the last book. There was plot twist after plot twist and I was loving it. Kenji was such a hilarious character. He is like the middle ground between Adam and Warner but also the funny side character in movies. He is the comic relief in the book and Mafi was so smart to add humour to this chaotic book.

For Juliette, sometimes I wanted to be so angry at her, other times I thought she was the best. I loved how much power Warner had to change Juliette into a stronger girl. This book reflected on how much better Juliette is with Warner as well as huge character development for Warner, which I loved.

Warner is a very complex person, similar to Aaron Blackford in Spanish Love Deception. He is very quiet, lethal and has a stern attitude, but a soft part for Juliette.

The reason why I didn’t give it 4 stars was because of the writing style. Once again, some parts were laughable and I didn’t know why she would’ve written it like that. For example, “My fists are full of unlucky pennies and my heart is a jukebox demanding a few nickles and my head is flipping quarters heads or tails heads or tails heads or tails heads or tails”

Otherwise, this book would’ve gotten a 4-star. Overall, well done, Mafi! I can't wait to read the next book. I have a feeling this series is just going to get better and better.
