Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas

“Let’s make a fight worthy of a song.”

*Spoilers for previous Throne of Glass books*

It seems like all hope is lost for Erilea; Aelin Galathynius is trapped in an iron coffin by Maeve, Fae Queen of the West. Aelin refuses to bow before Maeve and must draw into her fiery will to withstand the months of endless torture. Rowan continues to search for any sign of her with Elide and members of the cadre. Dorian remains with Manon and the witches as they search for the Wryd keys and the Crochan witches to ally with. All of her friends and allies are scattered across the kingdoms and must find a way to come together if they want any chance at winning this war.

The epic conclusion to Sarah J. Maas’s Throne of Glass series will not disappoint. This book is packed with intense action that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I would say this is definitely one of the most emotional books in the series; reading about Aelin being held captive and tortured is obviously difficult and heart-breaking. She’s kept in chains and a mask and physically and mentally tortured for a portion of the book. There’s also some intense battle scenes with a lot of death but not overly gory violence. There are a lot of conflicts between characters in this book that are very well written. My only criticism is that there are a lot of POVs (there are like nine different point of views) so it’s kind of a lot to read but they all work together very well. Seeing everything start to come together at the end is really amazing and the ending is perfect. Overall this book was a really great conclusion to the series and definitely worth the read.
