This is a woman loving woman story following a young woman Susan Trinder as she grifts and steals her way through life. This story is set in the Victorian Era London England. If you love historical fiction, gothic tales and crime stories then you will love this book. There is an adult level of sex and romance in this book between women but I think this story has wonderful and funny relatable characters whose lives and personalities have been heavily influenced by their positionality. 

If you really love historical fiction I would also recommend reading anything by Philippa Gregory.
