Dan Crawford is spending the summer before college at a college preparation program. There is something off about the location, and when Dan finds out that the dorms used to be a sanatorium, of course, he must explore. Alongside Abby and Jordan, other kids attending the program, he sets out to discover the place after experiencing an odd turn of events. Little do they know, whoever, or whatever is after them is not something that 16-year-olds should be exploring and that the secrets should be left alone…

In this creepy, light horror novel, readers will find lots of disturbing images of the sanatorium and creepy handwriting. A good plot and I enjoyed the images that helped me imagine the setting. The reason I gave this 2 stars is that the writing was middle-grade level. Good plot, not amazing execution. Would recommend this for someone if they do not enjoy full horror plots, and enjoyed the Miss Peregrine’s series.
