Illuminae is the first book of the Illuminae Files Series, written by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. The story is set in the year 2575 where two megacorporations are at war over a small mining planet. When their planet is attacked, Kady and Ezra are forced onto an evacuating fleet, fleeing from the enemy warship. However, the warship may be the least of their worries as a deadly plague spreads among the survivors and the fleet’s commanding AI seemingly turns against them.

This was an amazing book. The characters were well developed and the plot was captivating. What makes this book interesting is that it’s written through documents such as emails and interview transcripts which made it a really unique read. The authors do a really great job of building the world through little snippets of information and making the story immersive. 

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys science fiction. There is some violence and a few mature themes, but overall, the story is incredible.
