Winnie Foster is a 10-year-old girl living in an upper-class town called Treegap. She is constantly being watched over and overprotected, so she plans to run away and explore the dense forest her family owns with her only friend, a toad. When she escapes the fenced area around her family's cottage, she stumbles upon a very peculiar teenage-looking boy drinking from a fountain in the woods. He tells her strange things like how he is a hundred and four years old and, the weirdest thing, how she must never drink from the fountain in the woods. Tuck Everlasting is an ageless classic perfect for anyone of any age.
The characters' perspectives change throughout the book allowing readers to get to know multiple characters, and the plot flows very well. If you enjoy reading timeless stories like this novel, you should read The Giver by Lois Lowry and Heidi by Johanna Spyri.
