Jude, Taryn, and Vivienne are sisters; they now live in the High Court of Faerie after their parents died. The difference between the human world and the High Court of Faerie is that humans are mortal, and magical beings are not. Because Jude is a human, she must adapt by wearing her stockings inside out and bearing dried rowan berries around her neck to avoid enchantments. Jude feels as though she belongs there, but if she wants to be immortal, she must please the High King. She tries to convince her family that she is worthy to be chosen for knighthood to prove she belongs in the High Court of Faerie, but she must also keep her nemesis Cardan Greenbriar, the prince, out of her way in order to get what she desires.
This fantasy dystopian novel is definitely one of a kind book and is perfect for readers who enjoy getting lost in fantasy books with deep and intricate plots. Jude and Vivienne were very well written, but Taryn was a bit two-dimensional. This book’s complex plot also makes it a good challenge for young readers interested in fantasy books.
