The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

After being in an accident with her friends and against all odds being the only one who survived, Mara Dyer convinces her parents to move to Florida to escape the old town which she associates with her friends who passed away in the accident. As she settles into her new life in Florida, Mara has to avoid any form of attention in order to keep away from Anna, the school bully, who is obsessed with making innocent people’s lives miserable, and stay off her psychologist mother’s radar so she does not get put on medications or worse. Mara must do all this while trying to make sense of the nightmares and hallucinations she thinks may have something to do with the accident she has no recollection of.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is a super interesting mystery fiction book that will keep you on your toes the entire time you read it. I love how the writer incorporated some comedy and romance into the book to give a quick distraction from all the spookiness. Just as a warning, there is some sexual assault content in this book. If want to read another book series similar to this one, I would recommend you read the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi.
