The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

This story revolves around Hazel, a sixteen-year-old girl with stage 4 thyroid and lung cancer. Ever since her mother noticed her falling into a state of depression, she's been attending a weekly Cancer Kid Support Group. There she meets the charming and funny visitor, Augustus Walters, who had survived osteosarcoma and was attending the support group at his friend’s request. After a small discussion about a movie that Hazel had never seen before, Augustus insists she must go to his house so they can watch it together. Their friendship begins as their movie night comes to an end.

I really enjoyed the plot of this story, it was constantly surprising me and I love how different the character’s personalities and senses of humor were. I think this book is a great read for anyone interested in learning more about the life of a teen with cancer, as this story was loosely based on a real-life teen, Esther Earl, who was an internet blogger and also had metastasized papillary thyroid cancer.
