Lux Lawson has been acting out following her parents' divorce, venting her anger through aggressive behaviour and fighting, and being expelled from school after school. But when a brawl breaks out at school, and Lux is kicked out once again, her parents decide to enlist her in the Augusta Savage School of the Arts in Harlem, and Lux is determined to make it work. So when she runs into the Flyy girls -- the three coolest kids in the grade -- Lux does her best to befriend them. But will Lux really be able to start over at Augusta Savage with these girls, or will her past ruin everything?
Lux: The New Girl is a short, relatable and sweet story about someone who just wants positive relationships in their life despite the anger within them. The characters are well-developed and the plot is realistic. Lux’s narration is immersive and so real, you become entrenched in the story. It is a light book for readers of all ages, and a good debut to the Flyy Girls series.
