Defy Me is the fifth book in the Shatter Me series. Please keep in mind that there may be spoilers for the first four books in this review.
After a disastrous meeting with the nearly six-hundred people in the Reestablishment, Juliette and Aaron disappear into thin air. Or at least, that’s what Kenji saw. With all this new information about Juliette’s past, Kenji must re-evaluate his friendship with Nazeera, the daughter of the Supreme Commander of Asia, as she might pose a threat to him and his friends. While Kenji is preoccupied, Juliette and Warner must fight against the Supreme Commanders of Oceania to regain their stolen memories.
The book Defy Me may be my favorite book in this series so far, getting to hear the truth about Juliette and Aaron’s past and how they have actually been connected since childhood was thrilling, and it was also very shocking to see past characters regain a bigger role in the story again, it was also really entertaining to get to read more portions written from Kenji’s perspective. The plot remained just as enthralling as in the first four books and I believe the fifth book will be just as good. If you are looking for another series with a dystopia genre, I recommend reading This Woven Kingdom which is also by Tahereh Mafi.
