In She Gets the Girl by Rachael Lippincott and Alyson Derrick, two very different girls hatch a plan to get with their love interests, only to find unexpected obstacles on the road. Alex is a confident flirt and a heartbreaker, struggling with her mom’s alcoholism and the way it affects her relationships. She just broke up with her girlfriend, and she’s determined to prove she can be a caring person and a good girlfriend. Socially awkward Molly is determined to make friends now that she’s in college, and hopes to finally make her move on her longtime crush Cora. When a chance encounter pulls the two together, they decide to help each other out: Alex will help Molly charm Cora to prove to her ex that she can be compassionate. But things prove to be more complicated as the girls realize that they just might be developing feelings for each other.
She Gets the Girl is an incredible book: the LGBTQ+ romance is overflowing with chemistry and cute moments in between Alex and Molly. The characters are well developed, and the story is engaging: every chapter presents its own laughs, smiles, and occasional tears. This book will have you screaming and shouting across Alex and Molly’s journey. A must read for all romance fans!
