Snapdragon is just an average girl in an average town. But this average town has been spreading rumours. Rumours about a witch that lives in the woods, and Snap doesn’t believe it at first, but after her dog goes missing, she seeks out the witch's cabin and confronts her. But instead of a roadkill-eating, spell-casting witch that makes deals with the devil, she meets an old lady with a big heart and a passion for skeleton articulation, named Jacks.
This awe-filled, page-turning journey is a real treat, especially if you enjoy fantasy and/or necromancy. The art is very stylized and the colours are vibrant, making each page seem like a separate art piece. The story is beautifully crafted, incorporating the supernatural, a so-so family life, and the difficulties of being different or unusual. Each character is very different from one another and the reader develops a connection to each one rather quickly. If you’re in the mood for a mysterious, funny and heart-wrenching journey, this book is a great pick.
