The Great Gatsby (film) adapted from F. Scott Fitzgerald novel

This film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel of the same title, follows young Nick Carraway during his first summer in New York City in the 1920’s. Nick is swept up into the luxurious and immoral world of his millionaire neighbour, Jay Gatsby, and other members of New York's wealthy elite including his cousin Daisy Buchannan and her husband Tom. As the movie progresses, Nick uncovers the mystery of Jay Gatsby. Where did his wealth come from? Why did he move to Long Island? Why does he remain so isolated? All these questions and more will be answered throughout the romantic/dramatic film The Great Gatsby.

You’re never really bored watching this film even though it’s 2.5 hours, it only feels like 30 minutes. All of the acting is incredible, especially Leonardo Dicaprio as Gatsby, he really captures the essence of the character, adding more depth to the story. Overall, the film is fairly true to the book, there are a few inaccuracies which do create some plot holes but they don’t hurt the message of the story that much. I would recommend watching this movie on top of reading the book, if you are having to do a project on The Great Gatsby for school as it ties it all together nicely and lets some themes stick out a bit better.
