A girl named Persephone (Percy) Fraser and family buy a cottage in a small town called Barry’s Bay, where they end up staying every summer. There she meets two boys, Charlie and Sam Florek, and they immediately begin to bond. But years later, Percy is back in her hometown Toronto, when she suddenly gets a call that persuades her to go back to Barry’s Bay, where she is forced to confront the regrets of her past.
The book was very enjoyable - if you are a romance fan it would definitely be of interest. It would probably be intense if this is your first romance book due to certain scenes, but if you’re 14-15+ it’s probably fine. The imagery was very effective, and you can clearly picture the cottage scenery as you read. The characters were realistic and relatable - Percy’s worries and panic attacks are something lots of teens and adults can relate to. The separation of the past and present also made it much more interesting to read and left me with predictions and questions, wanting more.
This book got me back into a love of reading, and overall I thought it was a great read, immediately pulling you in and filling you with emotion.
