In the wake by Per Petterson

In The Wake is a great book that detailes Arvid’s first steps towards resuming life.  His parents and all younger siblings are dead by an accident and now, there is only one older brother left who can share Arvid’s pain and guilt. This poor man spent his last six years to get over the tragic event. The author well expressed the slow,  heartsick and depressed mood of a forty-three years old man. Arvid craves solitude and wants some time to be alone, but can not stand the loneliness inside of his mind.  The book is little bit chaotic but is a very absorbing novel.  It feels like watching a long video, I didn’t notice the time passing. Petterson describe Arvid’s life very well, I fell into the book deeply because it’s so realistic that it doesn’t feel like a novel and sometimes I laughed and giggled at the jokes.
