In the last volume, Red defeated his rival Blue at the pokemon league, and was crowned the champion of the Kanto region. Since then, he has been receiving tons of challenges from people all over the region, one of those challenges being from a certain person named Bruno. A month passes after receiving the challenge from Bruno, and no one has heard from him since. One day, his Pikachu shows up at professor Oak's lab, but it’s badly injured. That’s when our new protagonist, Yellow, shows up. While professor Oak was skeptical of Yellow at first, he eventually comes around to trusting them because Red’s Pikachu is familiar with them. He entrusts Yellow with the task of finding Red, leading to a wild and fun journey across the Kanto region again.
I really enjoyed this volume of pokemon adventures, Yellow is a very interesting protagonist because they don’t like seeing pokemon get hurt in battles, which means that they have to get creative when confronted with the obstacles and challenges they face on their journey. They are also very kind and gentle, almost the complete opposite of the hot headed, battle loving Red, which is kind of a breath of fresh air for the series. I would definitely recommend this to people who are big fans of pokemon, as you get to see lots of familiar faces and cool pokemon battles in this series.
