Renegades by Marissa Meyer

“Secret Identities. Extraordinary Powers. She wants vengeance. He wants justice.”

Prodigies are humans with superpowers. There are two sides to the prodigies. Renegades and Anarchists. The Renegades are superheroes. They protect the city of Gatlon and fight for peace and freedom for prodigies and non prodigies alike. The Anarchists are villains who want less limitations and more independence. They believe people should take care of themselves instead of relying on others.

Nova Artino is an Anarchist who fights to avenge her family, believing that the people of Gatlon shouldn’t look up to and rely on the Renegades. Adrian Everhart is a Renegade who believes in justice and peace and wants to make Gatlon City better.

Renegades is Marissa Meyer’s awesome first book in the Renegades trilogy. I found it interesting to read a book where you see how heroes are viewed from the villain’s (Nova in this book) perspective since in most books the main character is the hero. All characters were likeable, or if there were villains, they were well developed. As the story goes on you get to know a bit more about different character’s families and their past. I would recommend Renegades to fans of the following genres: sci-fi, fantasy, adventure and fiction. If you like this, you might want to try The Lunar Chronicles, also by Marissa Meyer.
