Kuessipan by Naomi Fontaine

Rather than a novel, it is a collection of prose poems about life on the reservation.  Characters, if that's the right term, are nameless and in most cases faceless, but more powerful.  Its anecdotal and poetic style is similar to that of Split Tooth and Niirlit, both predating this book.  I wonder if it is a written expression of an epic oral story.

“Tonight, neither city nor plane paints the sky a wolfish soft purple”

There is so much to unravel in that sentence.  The beauty of nature, the fact that not many people will see it, and too many visitors could ruin it.
