Tokyo Dreaming is the second book in the Tokyo Ever After series by Emiko Jean. This story follows Izumi Tanaka, a half-Japanese, half-American teenager who takes the opportunity to travel to Tokyo and reconnect with her estranged father after her mother falls into a coma.
This book explores family relationships and belonging to two different cultures, which may cause a feeling of being out of place in both cultures for some people. While this book is nicely written and an enjoyable read, the plot sometimes feels slow-paced and predictable. The other characters in the book could also use some more depth because I felt like I could definitely get to know them better to connect with them more. Overall, this book was a decent read.
