Subnautica is a single player survival action adventure game with elements of psychological horror involved set in an open world environment. Subnautica takes place on an alien ocean planet where you take control of Ryley Robinson a survivor of the Auroua, which has just been mysteriously destroyed by an unknown entity. The objective of the game is to try and survive against the hostile environment while trying to gather the materials to escape the planet, along the way you will be faced with various underwater horrors at varing depths from the surface of the planet all the way to the molten core.

 

The general gameplay was very engaging with easy to understand controls, incredibly detailed monsters, lush and vibrant ecosystems, and an amazing soundtrack and other audio effects like the roars and clicking of different creatures. The game drip feeds you information regarding how to progress from audio logs placed from the other survivors and waypoints to guide you. It gives you plenty of time to explore the planet on your own in the meantime. The length of the game depends on how confortable you are with exploring the unknown — with massive leviathan creatures guarding various areas it is easy to be disuaded from entering new areas. Although the replayablility is quite high due to the fact that you now know what you are doing, it makes exploration and optimization much more fun alongside the stunning visuals.

 

The game is incredibly engaging for any age group with gameplay that almost anyone would be interested in due to it uniqueness.
