In the town of Derry lives a monster. A monster that has fed on its inhabitants for centuries, coming out of its home every 27 years to hunt and terrify its townspeople. This monster is what seven teenagers have called “It”. It takes on the form of a clown, something that most people consider scary. However, what truly makes it frightening, is the fact that it can transfigure into what the observer fears the most.
“It” is truly one of the most well-known works of horror-based fiction in the last century, the original novel, written by Steven King. The movie starts off with a bang, having the first incident occur within ten minutes of its opening, and continuing at a fast pace from then on, having the group fight against bullies, the paranormal, and their personal lives. One of the reasons I really enjoyed this movie, was because I thought Andy Muschietti did a fantastic job mimicking the style of movies that were made in the eighties and nineties, (the time period of "It") which made it feel a lot more authentic and enjoyable. This movie is great for those who enjoy eighties-themed media or horror in general!
If you enjoyed movies such as this, I recommend "Bird Box" directed by Suzanne Bier, and the series “Stranger Things” by Matt and Ross Duffer.
