The Penultimate Peril by Lemony Snicket is the twelfth book in the series "A Series of Unfortunate Events." following the Baudelaire siblings as they find themselves working as hotel concierges at the strange Hotel Denouement. The siblings find themselves entangled in a dangerous situation at a risky hotel full of secrets, treachery, and a final face-off with Count Olaf.

This book had a complex and interesting plot, introduced new characters, and took readers through the journey nearing the Baudelaire orphans' long-awaited conclusion. Overall, it was an interesting book to read and I’d recommend it to those who enjoy genres like dark humour, mystery, and suspense and are a fan of the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" series.
