The Carnivorous Carnival is the ninth novel in the series "A Series of Unfortunate Events" and follows the story of the Baudelaire siblings as they stumble upon the Caligari Carnival after hiding in count Olaf's trunk and being driven there, unknowingly. Now, they have to avoid Count Olaf’s evil schemes and simultaneously navigate this eerie, mysterious, and very dangerous carnival on their own.
This book was a bit unsettling at times but otherwise very engaging and descriptive. There was quite a lot of tension surrounding what obstacles the siblings would face next and their sometimes morally grey choices made the story interesting while adding depth to their character. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to fans of the series and those who like themes of dark comedy, mystery, and adventure.
