Tyrannosaurus Wrecks is a light-hearted mystery novel written for early teens (12,13,14). It is one of many wildlife-orientated books Stuart Gibbs has published. Each book subtly raises awareness about the environmental crisis facing many of the world’s most interesting animals. This book strays from that a little bit as its plot centers around a stolen tyrannosaurus skull instead of a live animal. In this book, a relatively unremarkable kid works to solve the mystery of a stolen dinosaur skull. The stakes are high as one of his closest friends needs the skull to avoid selling his home. This is a well-written book, and if you have read any of this author’s books before, you will easily recognize his distinct style. This book has (relatively) normal characters that are easy to identify with and enough humor to keep you consistently grinning. This is one of the later books in the series, but it is not necessary to read the others in order to understand this one. All in all, a fine read.
