Zafira is the legendary Hunter, the only one who survives hunting in the Arz, a cursed forest. She ensures that her village has enough food to eat but cannot reveal her identity as women are not allowed to hunt. Nasir is the Prince of Death, an assassin for his father. If he reveals his compassion or true feelings about his father he would be killed. As the cursed Arz creeps closer everyday, engulfing the land in darkness, something needs to be done. Zafira is approached by the silver witch with a mission; to travel to the centre of the Arz and retrieve an object that could lift the curse on the land. The prince has been given the same mission by his father. Who will win this race to save the land and what happens if the magical object falls into the hands of Nasir’s evil father?

We Hunt the Flame is a fantasy set in ancient arabia that has extremely rich world building and interesting characters. This magical world will draw you in with its amazing cities, incredible landscapes, and epic magic. Zafira has to confront the very sexist values of her home land where she isn’t allowed to hunt or work certain jobs.  Nasir struggles with acting how his father wishes and doing what is right. Together Nasir and Zafira must work together to attempt to save the world and decide between what is right and what they both want.
