A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair

“How can they heal if they don’t possess memory?” “No soul has ever healed by dwelling on the past”

Persephone is technically the Goddess of Spring but plants shrivel under her touch. She’s never been able to grow so much as a flower. Her overprotective mother allowed her to move to New Athens to lead a normal life disguised as a journalist, granted she stays away from all gods. After a chance encounter with the god of death, Hades, she finds herself locked in a contract to bring life into the underworld. She has 6 months to fulfil her end of the bargain or she loses her freedom forever. As she spends more and more time in the underworld attempting to bring life to the desolate soil, she grows closer and closer to Hades. Their love is forbidden and her mother would kill her if she found out, but is she willing to risk it all to get what she wants for the first time in her life?

A Touch of Darkness is a romance novel based on the tale of Hades and Persephone. It's a darker romance novel that also focuses on Persephone’s growth and powers. She is a god but does not have any of the powers she's supposed to, and throughout the novel she deals with how that affects her and what powers she can use. Hades supports her growth throughout the novel and helps her discover who she is, while they fall in love. This is great for fans of romance and greek story retellings.
