The Martian by Andy Weir

Protagonist Mark Watney; a botanist on a team mission to study the planet Mars, finds himself stuck on the planet alone without any source of communication with Earth. Understanding his current situation, Mark Watney makes use of his small food supply and other resources to survive on his own. Mark Watney uses his botanist skills to solve his food shortage while fighting for a chance to make it back home. With Mark Watney's courage and intellectual capability on his side, will he be able to survive?

This science fiction based novel captures any reader's attention with Mark Watney's courage to power through difficult situations. Andy Weir portrays Mark Watney's physical as well as mental exhaustion throughout the novel.

If you enjoyed this great novel, I would highly recommend watching the movie. Matt Damon portrayed Mark Watney incredibly well in this movie. A few similar novels you may enjoy as well could be "Artemis" also by Andy Weir, "Provenance" by Ann Leckie, and "Before Mars" by Emma Newman.
