Divergent is a film directed by Neil Burger and casted by Theo James, Shailene Woodley and Kate Winslet. This film’s genre includes dystopian fiction, romance fiction, and science fiction. There are 5 groups: the smart ones which are called Erudite, kindness is known as Amity, selflessness is Abnegation, honesty is Candor, and finally the brave ones are Dauntless. Tris, played by Woodley, is a girl born in Abnegation, and at the choosing ceremony where people choose which group they go in, she picks Dauntless. This leads to her discovering that she is divergent. In this society, everyone is led to believe that being divergent is wrong and if you are divergent then Jeanie, who holds the top power, played by Winslet, will murder you. Tris learns of a coming battle that threatens everyone she cares about, subsequently being warned that she must keep her being a divergent a secret. This movie is one of my all time favorites. It is beautifully done. The dialogue seemed real and the characters were well developed. 100% recommend. This film also has a book if you would rather read than watch. Similar to this movie is The Hunger Games and Maze Runner.
