Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

“I am the mockingjay. The one that survived despite the Capitol's plans. The symbol of the rebellion.”

Against all odds, both Katniss and Peeta have survived the Hunger Games. Katniss should be happy to have survived and returned home to her family and friend Gale, but nothing is the same as before. Gale pushes her away and Peeta completely ignores her. Whispers of rebellion spread across not just district 12, but all of Panem, and it was instigated by Katniss and Peeta's win. Katniss is fueling unrest that she cannot stop but she doesn’t know if she should try. Is it finally time to push back against the Capitol? Katniss and Peeta must keep up their love charade as they depart on their victory tour through the districts. If they cannot prove that they are in love with each other and in total support of the Capitol, who knows what will happen. A horrifying surprise awaits them in the Capitol--this year is the third Quarter Quell, an event to celebrate 75 years of the hunger games. Will Katniss and Peeta be able to triumph over all odds again and save their friends and family in the process?

The sequel to Suzanne Collins Hunger Games is even more thrilling than the first. Full of the intense politics and lies that were touched on in the last book, it combines rebellion with the survival of the Games. This book was even better than the first one, so if you liked that one, you’ll love this one.
