Shadow and bones by Leigh Bardugo is a thrilling read, filled with fantasy, adventures and some romance. After Alina Starkov discover that she has extremely rare and powerful magic, she is immediately brought to the Little Place, filled with riches and many other Grisha who are awed and jealous of her gifts. The darkling, leader of the Grisha, believes that Alina’s powers can help destroy the fold, an ocean of darkness filled with monsters that splits the country. As Alina learnes about her past and what could happen in the future, she faces obstacles that could steer her away from what people now expect of her. This book helped me get out of a reading slump and I just simply could not get myself to put it down. Alina’s story and thoughts are captivating, making you wonder what is going to happen next. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy, such as Harry Potter fans. This book is apart of a 3-part series and it also has other series that follows the same world with some of the same characters, including Six of Crows. I am currently reading Six of Crows and it is just as amazing as this one, so even if you aren't the biggest fan of this, Six of crows is different enough to be able to read without knowing or liking this one.
