Rebel is the 4th and final installment in the dystopian Legend series by Marie Lu, and it is just as good as the rest. The story takes place 10 years after the events of the series’ previous titles.
Eden Wing is now a top student and an excellent inventor at his prestigious academy in Ross City, Antarctica, but for his whole life, he has been living underneath his older brother’s shadow. A decade ago, Daniel “Day” Wing led a massive revolution that completely destroyed and then rebuilt his home country, the Republic of America, before moving with his brother to Antarctica. However, as Daniel throws away his old identity, even giving up the former love of his life just to keep his brother safe in this new world, Eden becomes attracted to the hidden dark side of Ross City, leading to him discovering the many flaws running about the city’s “perfect” justice system, causing the bond between the two brothers to grow further apart by the day. It isn’t long before a new threat emerges from the crime-infested underworld of Ross City, putting Eden’s life in grave danger. It is now up to Daniel to reunite with allies, old and new, to keep Eden safe and eliminate this new threat.
Rebel is an amazingly intense novel about the life of two brothers in a new home, as well as the hidden criminal underworld of a seemingly perfect society. Marie Lu manages to perfectly blend suspense, fast-paced action, friendships, and even some romance into an excellent ending to an excellent series that would most definitely be a favorite for every fan of fast-paced stories! If you haven’t already, check out Legend, Prodigy, and Champion by the same author, they are the first 3 books of the Legend series and I can guarantee that they are all equally amazing!
