The Unwanteds: Island of Fire by Lisa McMann

“There was no time to look back. Only to move forward, to the dots on the horizon, and steer for them.”

The magical world of Artime has been destroyed. Magic is gone and with it their entire world. The Unwanteds have no food, water, or home. Alex is the only one with any hope of restoring Artime but he is hopeless and lost. On top of trying to restore Artime he must rescue his friends, who are being held captive, and free Megan from her voice by stealing a necklace of thorns. Meanwhile, another threat is looming. Aaron is building an army in the ruins of Quill. He is preparing to destroy Artime once and for all, but a bigger enemy is waiting in the shadows that could destroy both Quill and Artime.

The third instalment of Lisa McMann’s Unwanteds series is just as amazing as the rest. As always, her world building is fantastic and gets more and more complex with each book. The characters have amazing arcs and are interesting and deep. This book has just as much action and magic as the others, while adding more complex world politics and plot points.
