Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Carrie Soto is the best of the best at tennis. She has the skills, the records, the confidence, and above all, competitiveness. She is a strong player and even stronger when facing media backlash and criticism for her standoffish attitude and stoic appearance. When her record is about to be taken from her by newcomer, Nicki Chan, she decides it’s time to step out of retirement to reclaim it. In this intense page tuner, Jenkins Reid explores the aspects of passion, hard work, triumph, defeat and personal relationships all through the lens of a very well developed character that only gets more likeable as the novel goes on. I’m sure that readers will see a little bit of themselves within Carrie Soto, and connect in some way with her beautiful story of self growth. I can also guarantee that readers will put this book down knowing much more about the game of tennis than when they first picked it up. All and all it is a great novel that I would recommend to anyone over the age of 16 that is interested in sports, self redemption and an engaging emotional rollercoaster.
