Set in the world of Harry Potter, you play through the game as a new student in Hogwarts. Slowly but surely uncovering ancient magic in your day-to-day life at Hogwarts, all the while attempting to stop Ranrok and his army of goblins.
This action RPG game is an excellent example of style over substance. It recreates Hogwarts Castle with impressive attention to detail and stunning imagery, all the while delivering on the fantasy of being a student at Hogwarts. If there’s anything this game does well, it’s definitely the immersion into the world of Harry Potter. However, the game falls flat in many of its core gameplay mechanics, with a dull, repetitive combat system and brain-numbingly tedious chores. The game quickly became boring for me, especially since its narrative and characters were so bland, even though they had a great setting to work with.
For all of its negatives, Hogwarts Legacy is still an awe-inspiring game, and I’d highly recommend it to fans of Harry Potter who don’t mind overlooking gameplay and are looking to get immersed into the world of this game.
