Maggie Banks has never been able to keep a job in her adult life. She can’t seem to find her passion in the workplace and she doesn't expect this to change when her college bestfriend, Rochelle, invites her to take over her business, Cobblestone Books, for 4 months, while she's on maternity leave. Maggie finds herself in Bell River, a town whose businesses are all influenced by the late author, Edward Bell. Maggie soon discovers that this town is set in its ways and the rules influenced by Edward Bell's grandson, Ralph, are not meant to be broken. As Maggie settles in, she decides to bring more modern elements to the bookshop rather than keeping its “no books published after the 1930’s” rules. Here’s the catch, she has to keep it all a secret from Ralph, Rochelle, and Ralph’s assistant, Malcolm. When Maggie finds a secret about Edward Bell that could ruin the town's reputation, she has two choices; reveal the truth at risk of ruining all her new found friendships or let Bell River stay stuck in history forever. I would recommend this novel to all book lovers and outside of the box thinkers. It is a nice light read and serves as an escape from the typical heavy subject matter in most fiction novels. There are many aspects of new found friendship, romance, and discovering one’s passion and professional purpose. Overall, a great read for anyone 15 and above!
