The Kite Runner By Khaled Hosseini

The book follows the story of Amir, a young boy from Kabul, Afghanistan, and his complex relationship with his childhood friend Hassan. Set against the backdrop of the tumultuous events in Afghanistan, the novel explores themes of friendship, betrayal, guilt, redemption, and the search for identity. As Amir grows older and faces the consequences of his actions, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery and redemption, ultimately confronting his past to find peace and forgiveness.

This heart wrenching, but heartwarming story is a well written, realistic, coming of age novel. As a reader, it’s easy to root for Amir, despite his unforgiving past, as he fights toward a satisfactory redemption.

If you like historical fiction with a lead character who goes from zero-to-hero, then this is the perfect book.
