This novel follows the adventures of four best friends as they embark on their own separate summer adventures. Carmen and Tibby stay closer to home, while navigating new family and friendships, and discovering more about themselves and the world around them. Lena is taking the biggest leap to stay with her grandparents in Greece, and Bridget is expanding her athletic horizons at a soccer camp in Mexico. Even if they’re far apart, the girls are always connected by a pair of thrifted jeans that magically fit them all, despite their differences. This summer read will give readers a sense of comfort and friendship, while also diving into themes of loss, forgiveness and navigation of relationships. The four different perspectives keep readers engaged and each offer different challenges and revelations. I would recommend this to anyone over the age of 14 who enjoys 2000’s nostalgia and teen dramas/romantic comedies.
