Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a terrifying indie horror game. The environment is this game's spotlight. There is not much variety when it comes to maps with it only having 3 so far but the outstanding quality outshines the mediocre quantity. The game does an amazing job at making you feel like you're really there fighting for your life. The game features many playable characters each with their unique strengths and weaknesses. It is forced multiplayer without a campaign or single player mode of any kind. The gameplay stays partly true to the movie including the ability to play as the family or the victims, which is a really nice touch in my opinion. After you spawn in, you either have to escape the location using items and your wits if you are a victim and if you are a family member your job is to make sure the victims don’t escape by using your characters' abilities, and by feeding grandpa blood, which unlocks a lot of more resources at your disposal.
There is progression in this game as playing games gives you experience and when you eventually level up, you get skill points to put in a skill tree specific to each character. Graphics wise the game is stunning which adds to the amazing environment I mentioned previously. The soundtrack on its own deserves some credit in my opinion, it is not DOOM level but it is definitely underrated. The game does have a steep difficulty curve but once you overcome it, the game becomes a lot of fun. The game does not contain any playable tutorials but there are many official videos that you can watch in order to improve each one covering a different aspect of the game. There is no real save feature as all exp and leveling is saved and you cannot leave during the match without it continuing without you. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is available on PC, Xbox and PlayStation (and is free on Xbox Gamepass). Overall, I would rate this game an 8/10 and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a scary multiplayer game.
