In the thrilling finale of the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series, the half-bloods, aware of the tough odds against the powerful Titans, have spent the year gearing up for a decisive battle. As Kronos amasses a formidable army, Percy and a team of young demigods must confront him in New York City, protecting Mount Olympus. The unfolding prophecy on Percy's sixteenth birthday adds suspense to the intense battle for Western civilization, leaving Percy with a daunting suspicion about his destiny. This fast-paced conclusion delivers on the series' build-up, providing an exciting and satisfying end.
Rick Riordan’s imagery in “The Last Olympians” was done so well that I felt as if I was watching a movie. With his constant use of Greek myths tied in with his creative blend of twists that make the fictional characters shine, I truly mean it when I say Rick Riordan has a brilliant mind. The way in which you could feel and empathize with a majority of the characters really breathes authenticity into the stories. I found myself getting more and more attached to the characters as the novel was nearing its end, but became thankful when I found that Riordan had more to tell about the children in Camp Half-Blood and their own individual journeys.
'Satisfied' is the last word I would use to describe how I felt when reaching the end of the novel and series. I’ve only just gotten hungry for more. Will definitely be checking out his other series, hopefully experiencing more of the fantastical ways Rick Riordan goes about implementing the great wonders of mythology into his work. Loved the series, loved the book. If you’re ever in need of a fun, adventurous, thriller fit for all ages, then this is absolutely for you.
