"The Economics Book” is a book that explains the basics of economics. It delves into the beginnings of economic theory, going as far back as Plato in 400 BCE. The book was written by several economists, experts in economic theory, professors, and financial advisors. The economic theories and ideas explored vary from understanding how the economy can be counted to the pros and cons of both capitalism and communism; many of which are important to understanding our modern world.
The Economics Book is very engaging, and well written. It incorporates many visuals to clarify ideas and to simplify complicated concepts. The book really takes to its name of simply explaining big ideas, which is a good way for people interested in economics to start learning about it. Furthermore, the book is not written in a way that you have to go through everything. If one is interested in, for example, how to kickstart poor economies but does not want to have to go through the previous chapter of supply and demand, they can do it. Each section is there in order to clarify and explain an idea. Most do not require the connection of other basics of economics, though it could be helpful in understanding ideas.
The book covers a study which not everyone may enjoy, so realistically I would suggest this book to people interested in learning economics. However, I do think that is a great way to learn about the difficulties that the world is currently facing. It helps clarify what are the possible reasons for issues which affect people’s day-to-day lives, like inflation. Nonetheless, if you are not interested in economics then it would be difficult to go through this book.
