Östlund's "Triangle of Sadness" stirs a whirlwind of opinions, emblematic of its divisive nature. Some applaud its incisive critique of the shallow elite, finding humor in its wittiness, while others find its targets too obvious and its themes basic. The film's three-act structure navigates through promising territory, initially exploring gender roles and transactional relationships before veering into a social satire set aboard a luxurious yacht. Here, Östlund juxtaposes the extravagance of the wealthy with the servitude of the less fortunate, leading to bitter exchanges and uncomfortable moments that lay the groundwork for societal dismantling. Despite occasional distractions and a tendency towards pretension, the film offers an entertaining voyage through its stormy seas, even if it doesn't quite fulfill its early promise. Overall a very solid movie.
