"Assassin's Creed Mirage" follows the journey of the assassin, Basim, navigating through a richly detailed historical city of Baghdad during the Islamic Golden-Age, filled with political intrigue and action-packed sequences. As players unravel the mysteries of the past, they engage in thrilling stealth missions and uncover secrets hidden within the shadows of history.
It's primarily a single-player game that departs from the RPG elements introduced in "Assassin’s Creed Origins," instead focusing on revitalizing the classic assassin gameplay. The graphics are stunning, boasting high-quality visuals that vividly bring the historical setting to life. Enhanced by realistic sound effects and immersive music, the game delivers an engaging sensory experience. Additionally, players have the option to adjust the difficulty level, and for those seeking an even greater challenge, there's permadeath mode, where dying once forces a complete game restart. Fortunately, players can save their progress and seamlessly resume from where they left off.
The game was supposed to be a dlc (downloadable content) for Valhalla, but was then made into its own game. So, the game is the shortest in the franchise being 27 hours long. The story cutscenes are pretty bad. The character models are stiff, and their face’s barely have any emotion, which distracts from the immersive experience.
Navigating within the game is intuitive, aided by a compass at the top of the screen to guide you to objectives and a detailed map of Baghdad. The world design is expertly crafted for parkour, providing seamless traversal across the environment. Instructions and tutorials are available to assist with controls, striking a balance between guidance and independent gameplay. The primary focus of the game is for players to tackle missions autonomously, fostering a sense of agency and immersion.
With its immersive world and deep gameplay mechanics, "Assassin's Creed Mirage" is likely to hold a gamer's interest for multiple playthroughs, especially for those who enjoy exploring every corner of the historical setting.
Overall, I recommend this to players who want to experience the classic assassin gameplay again.
