Daisy Jones & the Six

Daisy Jones & the Six is a historical fiction novel written in the unconventional format of an interview transcript. The story is set in Los Angeles in the late sixties and documents the rise and fall of a band called Daisy Jones & The Six. The novel perfectly portrays the spirit of the sixties and seventies in the rock and roll scene. While this story serves as a cautionary tale of fame and stardom, it also serves as a raw, human story filled with loss, addiction, love and hate. I’m honestly obsessed with everything this author writes. I’d even read her grocery list. This is definitely not a genre I’m interested in, but Reid finds a way to make it so real and poignant, despite being a fictional story. I loved all the characters. they were all morally complex which added a level of authenticity to the story. This is a book you need to pay attention to closely because there are so many characters, sometimes it’s difficult to keep track. Nonetheless, I finished this book in one sitting it was so good that I might just read it again.
