This is Wes Anderson's first feature film. It is a comedy, heist, and adventure film that follows the story of Anthony, who has just gotten out of a mental hospital, and his best friend Dignan, who is obsessed with becoming a criminal and has developed a 75-year plan to pull off various heists. They recruit their neighbour Bob (based mainly on the fact that he has a car) and together start their journey of trying to find Mr. Henry in hopes that he will recruit them. This film is a crazy ride and incredibly funny. I find that with all of Wes Anderson's films, the humor and wit are always so seamlessly executed and flow so naturally that it almost feels like you're not watching a movie while it is still being so precisely directed and filmed, which is rare to be able to pull off. This film is joined by a great cast, including Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, Robert Musgrave, Andrew Wilson, etc., who were phenomenal. Owen Wilson and Wes Anderson co-wrote the film, as the Wilson brothers were very involved in making the film and were actually a part of the short film that turned into Bottle Rocket. Overall, this is an exceptional film, and while it is R-rated, I recommend it to anyone who wants to watch a hilarious unconventional heist film in which no one knows what they're really doing.
