Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway is one of the funniest, most humorous books I own. It is the 12th book in the famous series. The book is narrated by Greg (the main protagonist) in first-person. The book is written like it’s a personal diary of the main character, while including loads of funny cartoons. Similar to other books in this series, The Getaway is entertaining from start to finish. In this book, Greg and his family are trying to escape the harsh winter back home. They decide to go on a tropical vacation; however, their trip goes off the rails on every turn possible, from sun poisoning to dangerous sea animals. Greg’s family thought this trip was going to be paradise. Turns out it was a disaster in disguise. I like how this book captures all the funny details, however, sometimes the book also captures the irrelevant details. The cartoons are also whimsical, which complements the tone of the book. Overall this book is great. I would recommend this book to anyone above the age of 6. If you are looking for a humorous, chucklesome read, this book would be perfect.
